Our Summer 2024 Program Offerings
Just say “No” to the summer slide…
Our summer school program is a great opportunity for students to maintain their academic skills. All students regress over the summer, so maintaining a consistent academic schedule is especially critical when students have a learning difference or when they are not yet at grade level. Research shows that the average student loses about a month of academic learning over the summer, with older students losing more than younger students (Brookings Institution.) Most importantly, summer learning can be fun! We strive to make sessions engaging, and our students typically love coming! How lucky are we?
Our summer programs will run Monday, June 24th, through Friday, August 30th.
I will be offering a variety of summer educational enrichment options for each of my students to help them avoid the emotional and academic slide that happens over the long summer months. Each summer option listed below allows parents to choose the best option for their child to continue growing and maintaining school year progress!
Our 2-3 hour summer camps allow additional time for more peer connections and a daily outside wellness break around the Old Mill and Box Factory.
Our classroom community environment is positive, safe, celebrates successes, and most importantly, it fosters pride and self-confidence in students! We love the mantra,”We can do hard things!” There is a lot of benefit to productive struggle, which is often where the most learning and growth happen!
We are proud of the connections we have built with our students over the years, and seeing them succeed after years of struggling is truly one of our greatest joys!

Summer Academic Program
A summer academic enrichment class for students aged 5 ½ to 7 years old. This “Sounds Fun” class will enrich, strengthen, and build essential foundational reading skills using a meaningful, multi-sensory, and science-based approach to learning.
Phonological Awareness and Phonics Skill-Building
Phonological awareness and phonics skills are some of the best predictors of a student’s ability to read fluently. To break the code for reading, a student must have these essential foundational skills. Research has shown that when the sounds of language are taught explicitly and systematically, it has a direct impact on reading success.
What is a Learning Specialist?
A learning specialist goes beyond being simply a tutor in that we assess and teach individualized learning strategies to help students be more efficient at studying, memory, focus and more.
As learning specialists, we go beyond being a subject expert and homework helper. We try to get to the bottom of why students are struggling in the classroom and provide them with tools and strategies to help them overcome those challenges.
We go beyond academics and work hard to improve our student’s confidence, helping them better self-advocate for their learning needs and excel in any learning environment. To put it another way, we help students “learn” how to learn.
